Terms of Use

Acceptance
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Informational purpose only
The content on this site describes our services in general terms. It is not legal advice, not investigative advice for your specific matter, and not a guarantee of any particular result. Investigative outcomes depend on facts, jurisdictions, and record availability that vary by matter.
No attorney-client relationship
Northwest Investigative Services is a licensed private investigative agency, not a law firm. Nothing on this site creates an attorney-client relationship, and we do not practice law or provide legal advice.
No engagement by submission
Contacting us does not create an engagement. An engagement begins only when we have confirmed permissible purpose, cleared conflicts, issued a written scope and fee, and received your authorization. Do not send confidential or privileged material before that point.
Permitted use of our reports
Reports we prepare are investigative work product furnished for the engaged client and the stated matter. They are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and may not be used, in whole or in part, to determine eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose. Reports may not be resold, republished, or furnished to third parties without our written consent, except as required by law or legal process.
Retention of reports and files
Matter files are securely destroyed thirty (30) days after delivery unless extended retention has been arranged in writing, or a legal hold or statutory obligation requires otherwise. Clients are responsible for retaining their own copies of reports and supporting files. Where testimony, a declaration, or later production may be required, the client must specify this at the time of the assignment; extended secure retention and storage is available as a separately quoted service.
Prohibited use
You may not use this site, our services, or our reports to stalk, harass, threaten, or unlawfully locate any person, or for any other unlawful purpose. We screen for this at intake and will decline or terminate engagements accordingly, and will cooperate with law enforcement where required.
Intellectual property
Site content, design, and reports are the property of Northwest Investigative Services except where noted. Reports are licensed to the client for the engaged matter.
Third-party links
We are not responsible for content on sites we link to.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
This site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Northwest Investigative Services is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this site. Liability arising from an engagement is governed by the engagement letter for that matter.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Venue lies in King or Pierce County, Washington.
